  • 1864. This fairy story first appeared in the first (1864) edition of “Adela Cathcart” (i., 123-223), being omitted from the 1882 edition.
  • 1867. It was reprinted in (pp. 1-99) “Dealings with fairies” (1867) and
  • 1871. in (viii., 3-107) ” Works of fancy and imagination ” (1871,1876,1884).

It has been reprinted, as noted under ” Dealings with fairies,” in various forms in 1890, 1891, 1893, 1904, 1905,1906, 1915,1920,1924.
