Wise Path Books is an online bookstore by JHJ Dindinger that features works of MacDonald and others, including the Cullen Collection volumes and deluxe editions of MacDonald’s unabridged novels.
The leather-bound Sunrise Centenary Editions were originally published by Michael and Judy Phillips. From the Preface: “We have produced new artwork for the covers. However, much of the front-matter — the pen-and-ink drawings, the 19th century quotations, and whatever dedications MacDonald made — has been taken directly from the original publications. Finally, whenever possible we have photographically reproduced actual original texts for the body of these editions, thus insuring that every word appears just as it originally did. When this has not been possible, every care has been taken to make sure there are no deviations from the original texts.”
The many volumes in “The Cullen Collection” are revised editions by Michael Phillips. These edited versions have the same titles as MacDonald’s original editions; for example, Thomas Wingfold, Curate in the Cullen Collection is a modern update, not an original edition. Phillips versions were sometimes previously published in abridged editions under different titles, including an adaptation of Thomas Wingfold, Curate that was entitled The Curate’s Awakening.
