George MacDonald’s work continues to find new readers, scholars and creative artists around the world. The George MacDonald Society exists to encourage the study, appreciation and wider understanding of his life, writings and influence.
Founded in 1981, the Society publishes the annual scholarly journal North Wind, which includes articles on MacDonald’s life and work, reviews of recent books, and other material of interest to MacDonald scholars and readers.
The Society aims:
- to encourage scholarly, creative and general interest in George MacDonald and his work;
- to support informed discussion of his life, writings, ideas and influence;
- to develop accessible, reliable online resources about MacDonald and the people associated with him.
We are an international community, with members in the United Kingdom, North America, Europe, Australasia, Japan and elsewhere. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in George MacDonald, whether as a reader, student, researcher, teacher or creative practitioner. Subscriptions can be paid securely online through PayPal, making membership straightforward for those joining from outside the United Kingdom.
